You can see John Heald’s post about these new lunchtime dessert options available on Carnival cruise ships below:
I was thrilled to hear that Carnival is rolling out new desserts. It was short lived to read that not one of those desserts are glutenfree. Many people have celiac disease and can’t eat gluten. It seems we are not important enough to have glutenfree desserts to choose from. We travel on carnival cruise line at least twice a year. Been traveling with them since 2003. One thing I look forward to on vacation is the desserts. I know several desserts can be made glutenfree. I myself am a Baker and bake all of my desserts at home from scratch. I know with the brilliant pastry chefs on carnival could also make desserts glutenfree. I shouldn’t have to eat just glutenfree ice cream or molten
cake . Please please carnival cruise add some glutenfree desserts 😉
New desserts are great, but the experience is only as good as the service provided. I cruised on the Ecstasy over Thanksgiving 2018, and couldn’t believe how bad the food service had become since my last cruise. The Lido deck after-lunch cake service was one of my worst experiences!
The cake is served from a large round table covered with cakes, by one server. There’s no line possible, because the table is round and people are approaching from all directions. So you basically try to get the attention of the server, and move closer as people are served. I waited and waited for my turn, but must have had my invisibility cloak on because I was ignored. When I was literally next to the server, but still being ignored in favor of taller (male) people, I began to say, “Excuse me, is there a line? When is my turn?” I was scowled at by the server. It was incredibly frustrating and annoying to be passed up so many times. This, among other service issues, is why I will never book another Carnival cruise.
