The first cruise ship to sail to the Caribbean since March is headed back to its homeport after a passenger tested positive for COVID-19
SeaDream I departed from Barbados on Saturday to become the first cruise ship to cruise to the Caribbean in eight months. Four days into the cruise, the ship is now headed back to its homeport after the positive test.
Gene Sloan, a cruise journalist for The Points Guy, is sailing on the cruise ship and posted a series of tweets detailing the steps the cruise line is taking.
All passengers are confined to their cabins with staff bringing all meals to each passenger’s stateroom.
Quarantine lunch has arrived and, well, this is kind of amazing. How did they pull this off within two hours of a shipwide lockdown? #SeaDream @SeaDreamYC @thepointsguy pic.twitter.com/NqdIw3KMLu

Thank you to all my friends and fans who have sent well-wishes in the last hours since a (possible) #covid case was discovered here on board #SeaDream 1. A few updates:
1. I am fine. No symptoms
2. I am confined to my cabin but being well cared for — crew has been amazing— Gene Sloan (@CruiseLog) November 11, 2020
3. I’ve been losing internet here and there. If I’m not responding to you, don’t be alarmed. I’m probably just off line.
4. We are booking it to Barbados right now. My guess is we’ll be there this evening. But all I have to go on are ship tracking sites.— Gene Sloan (@CruiseLog) November 11, 2020
5. No word yet on what happens when we get to Barbados.
6. No word yet (at least here onboard) as to whether the covid case has been confirmed— Gene Sloan (@CruiseLog) November 11, 2020
The 100 passenger cruise ship is sailing at half capacity.
