Princess Cruises Starting a Medallion Recycling Program

Princess Cruises is launching a new program that will allow guests to recycle their Ocean Medallions after a cruise is over.

Several years ago, Princess Cruises made a switch from traditional cruise cards to a Medallion that does everything from opening cabin doors to making purchases on board, and even allowing them to be tracked on the ship by their friends and family members.

Due to guest feedback, the cruise line is starting recycling program that is part of their ongoing commitment to sustainability.

When a cruise is over, guests can drop off their Medallions in designated recycling boxes that will be located near gangways onboard during disembarkation.

The recycling program allows Princess Cruises to recover and reuse valuable components, reduce waste, and manage electronic materials responsibly.

Of course, guests will also be able to hang onto their Medallions as souvenirs if they choose to keep them.

Virgin Voyages, another cruise line that uses a wearable device instead of using cruise cards, also has recycling bins when guests disembark from the ship.
