From expedited boarding to a much needed improved muster drill, here are six ways that the Royal Caribbean app will make your cruise even better and keep you from having to wait in lines.

New Muster Drill – Royal Caribbean has reinvented the safety drill with Muster 2.0. Instead of waiting in crowded areas for your muster drill, the cruise line is implementing a new and improved way to complete the least favorite part of everyone’s cruise.

On embarkation day, you will complete the muster drill on your own time. Guests will find everything they need to know on the Royal Caribbean app or on their cabin TV.  They complete the drill by checking in at their assembly station whenever it’s convenient for them on embarkation day.

Royal Caribbean gave Muster 2.0 a trial run earlier this year and 95% of those who participated gave positive feedback about the change.

Expedited Boarding – You can now check in right on your phone using the Royal Caribbean App.  You can scan your passport and upload a security photo before you arrive at the terminal.  This speeds up the boarding process and gets you on the cruise ship even faster.

On my last Royal Caribbean cruise, I went from Lyft to ship in around 10 minutes using the cruise line’s new expedited boarding through the app.

Scheduled Arrival Time – The Royal Caribbean app will give you a time when you should arrive at the terminal to board your ship. These staggered arrival times help eliminate crowds in the terminal and allow for optimal social distancing.

Digital Key – On select Royal Caribbean cruise ships, you can use your smartphone to unlock your cabin door, control your TV, change the temperature of your stateroom, and adjust the lighting.

Daily Planning – No one wants to carry around a paper Cruise Compass to know what is going on around the ship.  With the Royal Caribbean app, you can see all of the ship’s events right on your phone.

You can even reserve shows, book shore excursions, and reserve a table at your favorite specialty restaurant without having to wait in line.

Onboard Account – Ever get sticker shock from your cabin bill at the end of your cruise? You can view in real time the charges to your account so budgeting your spending is easier than ever.

Royal Caribbean continues to improve their app and we look forward to what the cruise line has in store for the next few years.
