Half Moon Cay was voted 2016’s best cruise private island in the 4th annual Cruise Fever Fan Awards. This is the fourth straight year that Half Moon Cay has been voted the top spot.
Half Moon Cay, also known as Little San Salvador, is Holland America Line’s private island in the Bahamas. This tropical oasis offers a long crescent beach that is lined with white, powdery sand. The island is visited by Carnival Cruise Line and Holland America Line cruise ships (both owned by Carnival Corporation) and is often the highlight of a cruise itinerary.
The following private islands followed Half Moon Cay in voting: Labadee, Haiti (Royal Caribbean); Castaway Cay (Disney Cruise Line); CocoCay (Royal Caribbean); Princess Cays (Princess Cruises); and Great Stirrup Cay (Norwegian Cruise Line).
Voting took place by our readers on CruiseFever.net throughout 2016 and over 10,000 total votes were cast in this year’s awards. Multiple votes from the same IP address were discarded to give each household an equal vote. Other categories in such as Best Cruise Line and Best New Cruise Ship will be announced in the coming days.
