Regal Princess received a perfect 100 health score on a recent unannounced public health inspection. This newest cruise ship from Princess Cruises continues its streak of perfect health scores since the ship went into service in 2014.
Regal Princess has never received less than a perfect 100 on the unannounced biyearly health inspections. Cruise ships are inspected twice year and the crew does not know when they will take place. The inspection is done by the VSP (Vessel Sanitation Program) to determine how well the ships are operating and to the check the sanitation standards on board.
During the inspections, all major areas of the ship are inspected including medical facilities, portable water systems, swimming pools and hot tubs, galleys and dining rooms, child activity centers, hotel accommodations, ventilation systems, and common areas of the ship.
Regal Princess has now had four unannounced health inspections and has received a perfect 100 all four times. While the CDC has yet to release the date on this latest inspection (Princess broke the news on Twitter), previous inspections were held on February 24, 2016, April 12, 2015, and December 10, 2014.
Regal Princess was christened in November 2014 in a star-studded event in Port Everglades. The original cast of the hit TV show The Love Boat, served as the ship’s godparents.
The ship is currently sailing week long cruises to New England/Canada from New York City but will relocated to Port Everglades on November 6 for the winter Caribbean cruise season.
