Norwegian Cruise Line has announced that they will be adding the popular Margaritaville to two more cruise ships this fall.
After a widely successful debut on Norwegian Escape, Norwegian Cruise Line will be adding Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville to Norwegian Getaway and Norwegian Breakaway in the next two months. Margaritaville will replace Flamingo Grill on Norwegian Getaway and will open on September 18, 2016. The restaurant will open on Norwegian Breakaway on October 9, 2016 and replace the former Uptown Grill.
Margaritaville first debuted on Norwegian Escape last fall and became one of the most popular dining venues on the ship. The menu has an à la carte pricing ranging from Cheeseburger in Paradise at $6.99 to Key Lime Pie at $3.99. The see the entire menu prices for each item (Norwegian Escape), you can download it here (PDF). Margaritaville is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on most days.
Andy Stuart, the President and COO for Norwegian Cruise Line, said that with the expansion of the partnership, passengers will be to enjoy the island lifestyle before the cruise ship leaves port.
John Cohlan, chief executive officer of Margaritaville, gave the following statement:
“We are excited to expand our relationship with Norwegian Cruise Line, allowing even more guests to escape to the Margaritaville state of mind. Norwegian shares our philosophy that combines fun with exceptional service and we look forward to continuing to take this partnership to new sea levels.”
Norwegian Breakaway, Norwegian’s first Breakaway class ship, debuted in 2013 and sails out of New York City. Norwegian Getaway debuted a year later and currently sails week long cruises to the Caribbean from Miami, Florida.
The salad bar and burgers were great on the Breakaway and they were included in the price of sailing. I don’t want to go on a cruise ship and see chain restaurants. What’s next they going to replace the Italian with an Olive Garden. NCL keeps adding places and services that are an extra cost. Soon we will have to pay for everything and the only thing that will be included is your room.
If you’re gonna consider that a “specialty restaurant”, don’t bother!
You did this to us on the Escape, after announcing it was included, and then changed it.
REALLY POOR FORM.
You’re lucky we’re still sailing on the Breakaway 9/4-9/11/16.
Great news. We loved Margaritaville on NCL Escape. The place was always busy, so only a matter of time to the decide to roll it out to other ships. Now, we have to give either Getaway or Breakaway a try in the near future.
Are you kidding me? We were on the escape this July and Margaritaville was empty most of the time. It had no activity and none of the fun I associate with a true Margaritaville. I collect hats from every margaritaville I go to and I would not even consider collecting anything from this venue!
I also cruised in July. Margaritaville was always empty it was a great place to get away from the crowd the prices were not bad and we had on-board food credits so it just cost us a tip and we always tip so no big deal. I wish they were open for dinner. And I hope they add it to some of there smaller older ships.
