Norwegian Cruise Line will begin to let passengers bid on stateroom upgrades in a new program that is scheduled to launch on February 8, 2017.
This new bidding upgrade program will be called The Norwegian Upgrade Advantage and will let passengers bid on upgrades. Once final payment has passed, passengers can then bid what they are willing to pay for an upgrade to the next stateroom category. An indicator will light up as red, yellow, or green, the likelihood of their bid being accepted.
Passengers in inside staterooms can move up to oceanview, oceanview to balcony, and balcony to suite or The Haven. If a bid is accepted, the exact stateroom will be assigned by the cruise line, similar how guaranteed staterooms are assigned.
Norwegian has been testing this bidding for upgrade platform over the past 60 days and has received high praise from travel agents who were part of the pilot program.
Norwegian Escape, Norwegian Breakaway, Norwegian Getaway, Norwegian Epic, and Pride of America will be the first ships that will allow passengers to bid on upgrades. The cruise line expects this program rolled out to the entire fleet by the end of June.
Passengers will not only be able to go through the bidding process with their travel agent of choice, but will also be able to do the bidding themselves online.
Accepted bids will be considered final and can not be refunded.
