A cruise ship with over 2,400 passengers on board was departing on a 20-night cruise when strong winds pushed the vessel into a container ship, destroying several lifeboats on board.

Mein Schiff 3, operated by German cruise line TUI Cruises, was leaving Bremerhaven, Germany, around 5:30 PM yesterday (October 25, 2026) when it hit a docked container ship, MSC Victorine.

Strong wind gusts pushed the cruise ship off course as it was maneuvering out of the port, and even tugboats that were trying to help push the cruise ship back on course were unable to prevent the collision.

The collision destroyed several of the lifeboats and caused some damage to the bridge on Mein Schiff 3, while leaving a 30-foot hole in the hull of a container vessel. Two container ships were damaged in the collision.

According to local police, no ships took on water, and Mein Schiff 3 was able to sail back to the cruise terminal with the help of tugs. All three ships are now banned from sailing until repairs are made.

There are no reported injuries among any guests or crew members on any of the ships involved in the collision.

The cruise ship will now be taken out of service so it can go into dry dock to get repaired.
