It’s been several months since a cruise ship called Mobile, Alabama home. But now, with Carnival Spirit back in town, local residents in and around Mobile County have a getaway option once again.

After sitting quietly for a few months, Alabama’s Gulf Coast port is back in business.
Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Spirit has officially returned to Mobile to launch another full season of 6- to 14-night sailings to The Bahamas and Caribbean.
The ship just returned from her time in Alaska and is now ready for a busy fall and winter schedule.
Mobile Was Without a Cruise Ship Since April
If you tried to book a cruise out of Mobile between May and mid-October, you were plum out of luck. It’s all part of a scheduled seasonal rotation.
But early in October, it was for the best that this port wasn’t seeing any cruising activity with Hurricane Isaias making landfall as Cat 2 just 95 miles away. The port only saw gusts of 40 mph, but it still would have disrupted cruise schedules if there were any.
Back in late April, Carnival Spirit wrapped up her winter homeport deployment in Mobile and headed west. The ship transited the Panama Canal to spend the summer running bucket-list cruises to Alaska out of Seattle, Washington.
For about six months, no major cruise ships sailed out of the city.
