McDonald’s Monopoly is officially back, and this year’s prize lineup features a tempting offer for cruise lovers: all-expenses-paid cruises with Carnival Cruise Line.

I don’t know about you, but I’m a sucker for McDonald’s when Monopoly season rolls around.
I know the chances of winning anything incredible are extremely low. I know most of the food I order won’t exactly be doctor-recommended. But the throwback gamification just pulls me in every time, and somehow, I always assume I have a very good chance of landing Boardwalk and Park Place.
Well, this year, locking down those two dark blue properties will get you a $10,000 Carnival cruise package.
50 of them are up for grabs nationwide, and if a recent viral TikTok is any indication, at least one lucky player may already be sitting on a winner.
In a clip that over 2.5 million people have already viewed from @gretchwin, a man named Milo stares at his phone in pure disbelief after the phone shows Park Place (#921) and Boardwalk (#922) with the message “You won Carnival Cruise Vacation”.
In the video, a woman (presumably Gretchen) can be heard saying, “This is not real! You won a Carnival cruise!”.
Within hours the comments exploded, not just with congratulations but with a full-on debate about paperwork, mailing physical pieces, taxes, and what actually happens after you hit a big prize.

Gretchen herself jumped into the replies after viewers began asking for updates:
“Oh don’t worry he just printed 20 pages last night of paperwork he needs to sign and send in the mail with the pieces bahhaha”
That’s the reality of these major prizes. Scanning confirms the win on the app, but you still have to mail in the actual physical game pieces along with a stack of verification forms.
That was apparently news to some who had forgotten about this part.
“I just saw that you have to present the physical game pieces after I threw all mine away after I scanned them,” one TikTok user stated.
So yes, if you do win the big prize while eating at Mcdonald’s, hang on to those physical pieces.
For most of us, just getting a free streaming service for a couple months or winning a small serving of fries will have to suffice.
What the $10,000 Carnival Prize Actually Includes
According to the official rules (Rule 8), there are 50 Carnival Cruise Vacation Packages available. Each one carries an Approximate Retail Value of $10,000 and breaks down like this:
- $7,000 in Carnival Cruise Line gift cards (they do not expire and can be used toward any Carnival cruise)
- $3,000 prepaid gift card for travel expenses (flights, hotels, Ubers to the port, etc.)
The prize is non-transferable, cannot be redeemed for cash, and winners cover anything that exceeds the $10,000 value.
Also, the odds of collecting both Park Place (#921) and Boardwalk (#922)? Oh, it’s just a 1 in 187,960,469 chance. Boardwalk is the rare piece by the way.
What $7,000 in Carnival Gift Cards Can Buy
Here’s where it gets fun for cruisers and why I’m still jealous of Milo. Carnival remains one of the more budget-friendly cruise lines. Ten grand goes a long way.
In fact, when I first heard it was a $10,000 prize for a Carnival cruise, my immediate thought was, ‘Wait, is this for a month-long cruise or something?’
What winners actually get is a $7,000 non-expiring gift card. They can book as many Carnival cruises as they want and not pay a dime to get on the ship up to $7k.
In a recent article I compared Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Line prices for sailings, comparing over 6,000 of them through 2028. My findings? The average cost per day for the cheapest cabin on Carnival cruise is about $324.45 for two people, and this includes taxes, port fees, and gratuities.
A typical 7-night Caribbean sailing often lands in the $1,500–$2,200 range for a cabin for two, depending on the ship, season, and category. On the older classic ships, you can still find rates starting closer to $60–$80 per person per day (advertised price for one person). That means $7,000 could easily fund three or four solid week-long sailings over the next couple of years.
Winners aren’t winning a Carnival Cruise. They are winning multiple vacations…potentially.
If they want to go bigger and use up everything at once, they can always splurge with a suite on an Excel-class ship like Carnival Celebration or Carnival Jubilee.
Booking a suite on an 8-night sailing on Carnival Jubilee could cost anywhere from $6,000 to $10,000. So yes, someone could use the entire prize on a single sailing.
But if they have anything left over, they can use it for drink packages, specialty dining, shore excursions, or time in the spa.
The separate $3,000 prepaid card handles the flights and pre-cruise hotel, so the gift card balance stays focused on the actual vacation.
The Rest of the Prize Board
While the Carnival packages are stealing the show for us cruisers, some of the best prizes look like this: two $100,000 cash prizes, two $100,000 gold bar awards, five brand-new 2027 Jeep Cherokees, 15 Universal Orlando Resort vacations, 25 Hilton resort getaways, plus Kennedy Space Center trips, Polaris vehicles, Circle K fuel cards, and more.
