Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises have announced that they have canceled all remaining cruises in 2020 with an exception for cruises out of Singapore.
On Friday, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) has lifted the No Sail Order, replacing it with a Conditional Sail Order — signifying the first step towards a cautious resumption of cruising.
The cruise lines said that they are eager to welcome their guests back onboard while keeping their safety, as well as that of their crew members, their number one priority.
They are committed to taking the time needed to do things right and, for that reason, the decision has been made to further suspend all sailings through December 31, 2020 (excluding Quantum of the Seas in Singapore).
Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises plan to utilize this time to thoroughly train their staff and crew on their new health and safety protocols, while also conducting a number of trial sailings to stress-test these measures in real-world conditions.
They will continue to work closely with the CDC and the Healthy Sail Panel as they take this next step and solidify their action plan.
Guests who have had cruises canceled can choose a full refund, more their cruise to a qualifying sailing next year, or receive a 125% future cruise credit.
