Due to a propulsion issue that is forcing a Royal Caribbean cruise ship to sail at reduced speeds, the cruise line announced that a few itineraries have been altered and one cruise canceled so the ship can go into dry dock for repairs.
Allure of the Seas is currently having an issue with the propulsion system on board. Since the ship has to sail at reduced speeds, five itineraries have been altered. On September 20, October 18, November 15, December 13, and January 12, the ship will now stop at San Juan, Puerto Rico instead of St. Thomas, U.S.V.I..
In addition to the five altered itineraries, the January 21, 2018 sailing has been canceled. The cruise ship will enter dry dock so the propulsion issue with one of the azipods can be repaired.
Allure of the Seas is currently the second largest cruise ship in the world at 225,000 gross tons. The ship entered service in 2010 and carries up to 6,300 passengers. The vessel currently sails week long cruises to the Caribbean out of Port Everglades.
