Carnival’s Mardi Gras Completes Construction Milestone

Carnival Cruise Line’s next new cruise ship, Mardi Gras, completed a construction milestone earlier today when the vessel touched water for the first time.

After the cruise ship was floated out of dry dock for the first time, Mardi Gras was repositioned to a new location at the shipyard to finalize its interior and exterior outfitting, including the installation of BOLT, the first roller coaster at sea in the coming weeks, part of the Ultimate Playground outdoor recreation area.

The cruise ship’s more than 2,600 staterooms, including 180 suites across 11 different categories, have been installed and workers will begin putting the finishing touches on these unique accommodations. View Itineraries on Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras’ six themed zones are also beginning to take shape with the interior build out of spaces like Emeril’s Bistro 1396 created by famed chef Emeril Lagasse and a groundbreaking new atrium concept with spectacular three-deck-high floor-to-ceiling windows and moveable LED screens.

Mardi Gras will also be the first cruise ship in North America powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), part of Carnival Corporation’s green cruising platform.

Mardi Gras will homeport in Port Canaveral and sail week long cruises to the Caribbean from Port Canaveral.  The cruise ship’s maiden debut is scheduled for November 14, 2020.

  1. So is liquefied natural gas cost more than diesel to power a ship because a balcony room seems higher than our previous cruises? “balcony is our only choice while cruising Carnival”
