Carnival Sunshine Heading to New York, Norfolk, & Charleston in 2016

Carnival Cruise Lines has announced that the Carnival Sunshine is headed to New York City in 2016 for series of 20 cruises.  This will be the first time that a Carnival cruise ship with the Funship 2.0 upgrades sails from New York.

The 20 cruises on the Carnival Sunshine will range from two to ten days from June 2016 to October 2016.  The ship will also have a series of sailings from Norfolk, Virginia and Charleston, South Carolina. The Sunshine will replace the Carnival Splendor for departures from Norfolk and New York.

Christine Duffy, the president of Carnival Cruise Lines, gave the following statement: “Carnival Sunshine has an extraordinary array of guest features and facilities and will provide consumers and our valued travel agent partners with a wide range of itinerary choices from these highly attractive East Coast homeports.”

The Carnival Sunshine underwent a radical $155 million overhaul in 2013 and received a water park, an adults only area with pool and waterfall, and the Funship 2.0 upgrades.

The longest cruise that the Carnival Sunshine will sail out these three ports will be a 10 night sailing to the Caribbean out of Charleston on May 30, 2016.

The New York cruises will range from two night cruises to nowhere to nine night cruises to the Caribbean.

The Carnival Sunshine is a 2,600 passenger ship and the first cruise ship ever built over 100,000 gross tons. Originally called the Carnival Destiny, her name was changed to Sunshine after her radical makeover in 2013.

  1. Wish they would replace the ship in Charlston sc it is the worst ship I ever was on. The fantasy should change it’s name to the nightmare. Crew in line eating before us water was undrinkable entertainment really bad and the list goes on and on they should send that one to Miami and bring a good ship up here also they need to go to more ports and less at sea days as well as ones like st kitts Aruba etc I like cruising out of charleston just don’t want to go to the same ports every cruise should have each week a different cruise for the month that way I can go on different cruise at different times of the month would be a lot better for business there is only so many times you can gomtomnassau Puerto Rico jamica st kitts st croix etc would be so much nicer
