Carnival Launches ShipBoard App & $5/day Social Media Internet Package

Carnival Cruise Line has launched a free mobile app that will allow passengers to access information about their cruise while on board.  The cruise line is also rolling out enhanced internet access that will include a social media package for only $5 per day.

The app will debut on the Carnival Breeze and will also allow guests to send messages to each other while on board. There will be a one time flat fee of $5 per cruise to use the messaging service but the app itself will be free.  The app will be available for download on iPhones and Android devices.

The social media internet package will cost $5 per day/or $25 for the length of each cruise and will give each passenger access to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and other popular social networking sites.  The Carnival Freedom, Breeze, and Sunshine will be the first ships to offer this new feature.

  • A “favorites” feature that allows guests to see what events and activities their sailing companions are participating in.
  • Information on casual dining options such as Guy’s Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina and The Taste Bar, along with details on the RedFrog Pub and other popular watering holes
  • Searchable deck plans with key areas highlighted, providing a comprehensive layout of the ship’s various on-board offerings.
  • Itinerary details, including current ship time and arrival/departure times for upcoming port calls.

All rollout of the app to all 24 Carnival ships is expected to take 18-24 months.  For complete details, visit Carnival-News.com.

  1. This is great news hope it get to Princess Ships also. Have been on two DCL cruises with there Navigator App and it great for checking activities. There Wave Phone also helped keep up with kids. Will be nice with access to FB etc. Now all the Cruise Lines are racing into 21 century with Communication Technology. I will love it when all I have to have is smart Phone. Pay, Pictures and Communicate all in one place.

  2. Excellent! Those of us doing onboard marketing for the cruiseline will now be compensated for it! On vacation? Post your pic on FB or INSTAGRAM or Tweet at will.. “We are having an amazing time” – what better marketing is there?!

  3. I hate the idea! Cruising is the one time that everyone is not glued to their electronics. You can actually sit down in a restaurant and have conversation with people on a cruise.. Something that is so far gone in regular society. I am VERY attached to my phone tablet etc but I truly look forward to those moments of not worrying about my phone and what’s on it. people are actually forced to enjpy their surroundings on a cruise as their attention is not taken away by so and so’s cute new dog or such and such’s updates about her cheating husband!! This sucks! Only part I like is being able to communicate with the people on the ship to find out their location and such!

    • You mean you dont have the self control not to use the service? If you want to ditch the tech for the duration of your cruise, then do it. Just because the option is available doesnt mean you have to use it. No one should be “forced to enjoy their surroundings.” How Kim Jong Un of you.

  4. I love this our grown children always worry when we cruise. Just wish it was on the ship that we are on in Feb and April. It will be nice to FaceTime them on board.
