Cruise Ships Stuck in Galveston Due to Fog, Itineraries Shortened

Heavy fog has once again closed the Port of Galveston and several cruise ships are unable to leave the port until it reopens.  While Carninval Valor and Carnival Freedom were able to dock, Carnival Breeze remains at sea and is unable to return to port at this time.

Carnival Cruise Line has given the following update on three of their cruise ships:

Carnival Valor

Carnival Valor is now scheduled to operate a four-day cruise departing today and calling in Progreso, Mexico, versus the originally scheduled five-day cruise departing yesterday with two ports of call, one in Cozumel and one in Progreso.

Check in is now scheduled to commence today at Terminal 1 at 10 am. Guests must be on board by 2pm and the ship will sail as soon as the port reopens again. Guests who choose to sail on the modified itinerary will receive a one-day prorated refund. Guests also have the option of cancelling and may call 800-CARNIVAL to do so. To receive regular text message updates on Carnival Valor, please send a text to CRUISE (278473) with the message CCL2.

Carnival Freedom

Carnival Freedom is presently docked at a cargo terminal at the Port of Galveston given that no additional cruise terminals are available at this time. The cargo terminal is not equipped with Customs & Border Protection processing stations so guests are unable to disembark the ship. When Carnival Valor departs Galveston later today, Carnival Freedom will reposition to Cruise Terminal 1, weather permitting.

Once debark is completed we will commence embarkation for the new cruise and the ship will operate a six-day cruise calling in Grand Cayman and Cozumel versus the originally scheduled seven-day one. Based on the shortened duration, the call to Ocho Rios, Jamaica will be cancelled.

Guests who opt to sail on the modified itinerary will receive a one-day pro-rated refund. Guests also have the option of cancelling and may call 800-CARNIVAL to do so. To receive regular text message updates on Carnival Freedom, please send a text to CRUISE (278473) with the message CCL1.

Carnival Freedom guests should not proceed to Cruise Terminal 1 at this time as it is currently occupied by Carnival Valor. We will provide another update to Freedom guests at 12 noon CST.

Carnival Breeze

Carnival Breeze is now scheduled to operate a six-day cruise departing Monday from Galveston instead of the originally scheduled seven-day cruise, weather permitting. Specific itinerary details for the next voyage will be finalized once we have confirmation of the ship’s arrival time in Galveston.

Guests who opt to sail on the modified itinerary will receive a one-day pro-rated refund. Guests also have the option of cancelling and may call 800-CARNIVAL to do so. To receive regular text message updates on Carnival Breeze, please send a text to CRUISE (278473) with the message CCL3.
