Carnival Rolling Out Faster Embarkation Process to More Cruise Ships

Carnival Cruise Line will be rolling out a faster embarkation process to three more cruise ships later this month.
This new process has guests picking up their stateroom keys in a sealed envelope that are placed outside of their cabins when their cabins are ready.  This is a change from picking them up when checking in and makes the check-in line move much quicker.

This new system is currently in place on Carnival Glory, Carnival Sensation, Carnival Victory, Carnival Vista, and Carnival Splendor. After a successful pilot program on those cruise ships, Carnival Cruise Line will be rolling out it out to more ships at the end of this month.  The three new cruise ships to receive this new check-in process will be:

Instead of guests using their Sign & Sail card to board the ship (since they won’t have one yet), they will use their boarding pass.  If they wish to make a purchase on board before they pick up their keys, their boarding pass can also be used for all purchases on embarkation day.

This new process is safe and secure, and helps speed up the boarding process helping you get on the ship faster.  Passengers photos will still be taken at check-in and will appear anytime they make a purchase with their boarding pass or Sign & Sail card.

  1. I personally don’t like it…Have been on 3 of the ships that have the key less embarkation. Went to our cabin as soon as we got on the ship…we are Diamond……our cabin was ready…but NO KEY in the box…we hunted down our cabin steward…who opened our cabin….they we went to guest services..

I know there are always changes going on with Carnival. .but sometimes the “old” way is better….

  2. I’m lost. So what keeps someone from opening up your envelope and going into your stateroom before you get to it?

  3. I don’t see how it will be faster. You still have to check in and a boarding pass is faster than a card you just swipe to get on? I doubt it. Or do we just show our boarding pass and passport and not check in?

  4. This process is amazingly fast! We experienced it boarding the Vista in June. We never stopped walking from the second we gave our ID’s up front. In the ship in 15 min easy! No more waiting outside in the scorching sun for hours! Good job Carnival!

    • What keeps just anyone from taking your envelope with your keys and charging stuff to your sail and sign account before you get to your keys??
Also, is this the same way they now handle Faster to the Fun?
