There has been talk for sometime about stopping the large cruise ships making their way up the grand canal to the centre of Venice.
This is because there is concern that the wake of the ships are causing extra waves and therefore more erosion to the foundations.
Some suggest that the cruise ships should dock at Porto Maghera instead.
This would be a huge disappointment to most cruisers who love the amazing view of the city as they go by.
I was wondering if they stopped cruises going directly into Venice, if it would affect the number of people booking cruises that start and finish in Venice ?
