Carnival Testing New Dining Rules on Two Cruise Ships

Tired of other passengers at your table arriving really late for dinner? If you answered yes, then you’ll love to hear that Carnival Cruise Line is testing a new dining rule on two of their cruise ships for passengers who have selected traditional (early and late seating) dining.

On Carnival Glory and Carnival Conquest, passengers who arrive for dinner more than 30 minutes after their assigned time will be turned away and asked to enjoy dinner on the Lido Deck. Carnival is testing this new rule on these two ships with hopes to make it fleetwide according to John Heald.  (Over the past several years, Carnival has been testing programs on select ships before rolling them out to the rest of their fleet.)

The reason for this new rule is that when passengers arrive late for dinner, it delays the meal for everyone else at their table.  The dining room servers like to keep everyone on the same course and that becomes hard to do when guests arrive 45 minutes to an hour after their scheduled time.

This will not affect passengers who have selected Your Time Dining, only those who have set dining times.

  1. I think they should try to make everyone happy. no signed seat, people on time seat together same area and people come later they seat together so everybody is happy because some people eat very early and some eat later if in restaurant is in and out until closing time

  2. Good!! Years ago all ships closed the doors 15 mins after your dining time. It worked out very well. I think they should go back to this policy. People who are late are being very disrespectful to their dining partners and the wait staff. These people work very hard and deserve to have people arrive on time.

    • Agreed. I hated my last cruise. Even though all arrived on time, we had late arrival, and took 1.5 hours to get through dinner. Guess with no dinner after late, they take their time.
