Cruise Line Eliminates Lobster From Dining Room Menus on Short Cruises

Do you enjoy having lobster on your cruises in the main dining room on Elegant Night? One cruise line will no longer be offering this option on cruises five days or less.

John Heald, the senior cruise director for Carnival Cruise Line, confirmed that Carnival will no longer be offering lobster on Elegant Nights on shorter cruises effective September 19, 2015.  He also pointed out that cruises six days and longer will continue to offer lobster in the main dining rooms.

Heald said that the reason for the change is due to a significant increase in the cost of lobster.  The change was needed so the cruise line could continue to offer the shorter cruises at a great value.  Elegant night menus will now be as follows:

  • Appetizer: Broiled Sea Scallops with Truffled Risotto and Citrus Gremolata appetizer
  • Entrees: Blue Crab Ravioli in a Light Lobster Cream with Vodka
Oven Baked Japanese Sea Bass with Nicoise Sauce and Aromatic Basmati Rice
Grilled Jumbo Shrimp with Special Marinara Sauce and Mustard Potatoes
Roasted Duck with Orange Glaze and Au Gratin Potatoes
  • Other guest favorites including Tender Roasted Prime Rib, Barbecued St. Louis Spare Ribs and Zucchini and Eggplant Parmigiana will continue to be offered as well.

This change will go into effect for all cruises 5 days or less departing on or after September 19, 2015.
