Carnival Cruise Ship Receives Perfect 100 Health Score on Unannounced Inspection

Twice a year, each cruise ship that sails to or from a U.S. cruise port goes through an unannounced public health inspection.  A recent inspection on a Carnival Cruise Line cruise ship resulted in the ship receiving a perfect 100 score.

The unannounced inspection took place on Carnival Victory earlier this month by the United States Public Health and the ship scored a perfect 100.  To receive a perfect 100, the ship must receive perfect marks on all 44 times on the USPH’s Vessel Sanitation Program checklist. A score of 85 or below is considered a failing score.

The major areas of the ship that are inspected include the following:

  • Medical facilities
  • Portable water systems
  • Swimming pools and whirlpool spas
  • Galleys and dining rooms
  • Child activity centers
  • Hotel accommodations
  • Ventilation systems
  • Common areas of the ship

Carnival Victory is the 2nd Carnival ship (Carnival Breeze was the first) to score a perfect 100 this year. Carnival Victory is a 2,758 passenger cruise ship that was launched on August 18, 2000.  The ship currently sails out of Port Canaveral, Florida and sails three and four night cruises to the Bahamas.

  1. Someone did not check the door latch area between the room and the bathroom. Just got off the Victory 2 days ago and the mold inside the latch was at least a half inch thick. Really gross, had to sleep with balcony door open due to excessive mold and allergies! Can’t see where I can post a picture here but I have them!
