4 Things To Do In Grand Turk While On A Cruise

A cruise stop in Grand Turk is a great day to kick back and relax.  There are never more than 2 cruise ships in port on any given day and there are numerous things that are all within walking distance of the pier.  Here are a few options for you to consider for your next cruise to Grand Turk.

Beach Day

This is by far the most popular thing to do when in Grand Turk.  The beach by the pier is lined with palm trees and beach chairs and is a very short walk from the cruise ships.  The sand is soft and the water is crystal clear.

The best part is that you won’t have to spend a penny.  There are no cab fares or chair rental fees to use the beach.  The main beach can get crowded when there are 2 ships in port but it is where all the action is.  For a quieter beach, take a right at the pier and take a 15 minute walk.  You will have much more room to stretch out but will not be near any vendors for food or drinks.

Island Tour

Grand Turk is full of history and some believe it is the site where Christopher Columbus first spotted land in 1492.  Island tours are a great way of learning the history and culture of the ports you visit.

The island has many 18th century churches and Bermudan style buildings.  You are also likely to spot wild horses and donkeys roaming the streets and beaches.  One of the highlights of the tour is a 150 year old lighthouse that was built in London and is still in service today.

These guided tours can be booked through the cruise line, a 3rd party shore excursion company online, or in port.

Snorkeling Excursion

There are some great spots to snorkel at in Grand Turk.  The turquoise blue water is crystal clear and abundant with sea life.
