12 Reasons Why You Should Take A Cruise with Princess Cruises

Looking to take a cruise in 2017? Here are 12 reasons why you should book a cruise with Princess Cruises.

Movies Under the Stars – Princess was not only was the first cruise line to add large TV screens to the Lido Deck of cruise ships, but they have perfected the movie watching experience.  On my last cruise with Princess, the staff walked around offering popcorn, pizza, and warm cookies and milk to those who were watching a movie on the big screen.  No other cruise line does that.

Ocean Medallion – Debuting later this year on Regal Princess, the Ocean Medallion is promising to offer a truly personalized and seamless vacation. The complimentary Ocean Medallion is your portal to amazing vacation possibilities. It’s the size of a quarter and can be worn in a variety of ways: as a wristband, pendant, clip or even in your pocket. Consider the Ocean Medallion your key to opening doors: to your stateroom, your ship and experiences you won’t find anywhere else.

Cruises to more exotic locations – Princess Cruises has cruises to some of the most exotic locations around the world. For nine straight years, Princess has been given the title “Best Itineraries”.  While some cruise lines base most of their ships in the Caribbean, Princess offers cruise to virtually every corner of the earth.  Destinations include:

  • Caribbean
  • Alaska
  • Asia, India, and Africa
  • Australia & New Zealand
  • Canada & New England
  • Europe and the Mediterranean
  • Hawaii
  • Japan
  • Panama Canal
  • Tahiti and the South Pacific
  • South America

Crown Grill – While virtually all cruise lines offer a steakhouse onboard, the Crown Grill rises to the top.  The service and quality of meat not only surpass other mainstream cruise line’s steakhouses, but it has the lowest surcharge at $29 per person.

Service – The friendly staff on Princess offers amazing service that will pamper you everyday of your cruise. They will always greet you with a smile and any problems that might come up are quickly addressed and fixed.

Buffet – On Princess ships, you don’t have to worry about trying to juggle your plate of food, silverware, and drink as you walk to your table. Silverware is already set at the tables and servers come by and get your drinks (water, lemonade, coffee, juice) for you.  On my last cruise, I never had to wait more than 10 seconds after sitting down before I was asked what I wanted to drink.  Usually, it was within 5 seconds.

Lotus Spa – The Lotus Spa on Princess ships is the perfect way to pamper yourself while at sea. I highly recommend either the hot stone massage or the heated seaweed wrap and massage. The thermal suite on the Royal Class ships, The Enclave, completely blows away the thermal suites on most newer cruise ships.

Sanctuary – Tired of trying to find a lounger on the Lido Deck on sea days without getting there are 6 a.m.?  I would like to introduce you to the Sanctuary, the perfect place to get away from the crowds and relax in your very own lounger reserved just for you. Yes the Sanctuary comes with a surcharge, but the fact that it was completely sold out during my last cruise proves that it is worth every penny.

International Cafe – Grab a bite to eat 24 hours a day at the International Cafe.  With fresh baked goods (croissants, doughnuts, and beignets)  in the morning to sandwiches, paninis, pastas, and salads throughout the rest of the day, you will never go hungry on Princess.  Yes, there is also a great variety of desserts available including gelato, tiramisu, and cookies.

Come Back New Sale – Princess is currently offering a “Come Back New” sale that has summer cruises on sale up to 40% off.  View Cruises on Princess Cruises

Captain’s Circle – Princess Cruises offers one of the best loyalty programs out of all of the cruise lines.  While most loyalty programs only go by the number of days you have sailed, Princess also counts the number of cruises (huge benefit to those who take shorter cruises). By your 6th cruise or 51st day with Princess, you have moved up to Platinum and receive a host of benefits including priority boarding, 150 minutes of internet, and free upgrades on travel insurance.

For Romance – There is only one Love Boat, and Captain Stubing, Doc, Gopher, Julie, Isaac, and Vicki sailed on none other than Princess Cruises.

  1. Our recent Princess Cruise was disappointing because of several factors. There was disappointments with the quality of food, entertainment, and sanitary practices. One thing that turned me off most is how the regular cruiser is ignored for the multi time Princess cruiser. ( Not sure why you’d be on Princess more than once w/ their ridiculous loyalty awards program.)

Elite cruisers walk around with a pin on that makes them looks like junior staffers. Anyhow, the response is they will be served before other people waiting in line. When we were waiting to sign up for an escape room, one of the passengers returned to his room to get his elite pin to bump other passengers when it look like they would run out of spaces.

If you think this is a step up from your mainstream cruises, you’re wrong. I never saw so many men in tank tops in my life. People came to formal dining in shorts, t-shirts, and sandals for dinner.

There is the much celebrated Sanctuary that you have to pay to use, but it is often reserved for Elite members who never use it. ( Watched this happen on a sea day.) Then there is the staff that does nothing to discourage chair hogs that place their towels and books on chairs they will not use until late in the day as early as 6:30 in the morning.

Go Holland American. The service , entertainment, cleanliness, and food is better. The clientale is less entitled, too.
